I don't think it's good to create insulin spikes in the morning because you're metabolism is "waking up". I eat low GI food for breakfast (they're absorved slowly) and I'm satisfied for more time.

If you eat high GI foods in the morning probably you're going to be hungry faster so if you want to wake up faster drink a strong coffee.

I read in many foruns recomendations about low GI food for breakfast or before workouts and high GI food + protein after workout (maybe creating insulin spike to prevent catabolism processes and create more anabolism?)

I'm not a nutritionist so i'm everything is wront someone tell me, I love to learn :)

You're certainly not eating a high-GI breakfast now. The avocado and eggs see to that. The potatoes on their

own might be, but are not high GI in the context of the meal.

What's going on after you have this meal? Do you feel tired or lethargic, or full of energy and ready to take on the world?

Thanks,

I didn't say i was eating high gi ,

i wanted your opinion whether an insulin spike in the morning

like eating chocolate / candy in the morning

Is good for those who don't drink cofee, for waking up fast?

with my current meals i feel great, it's just that i want to optimize it even more

Thanks!

Any carbs you eat with a meal, even fast carbs, will be moderated by

the fat and protein in the meal. It's not going to make a big difference

in terms of insulin response. If it did you might find yourself more tired after

it comes down though.

Fruit with breakfast or immediate upon waking up is a good idea time-wise though.

That might help you wake up.

great idea!,

didn't thought of it,

i'll add fruits with next to my salad at the morning

probably strawberries/berries/banana/apple/mango

will be great

i'll start doing it this morning

can you eleborate about:

"Any carbs you eat with a meal, even fast carbs, will be moderated by

the fat and protein in the meal. It's not going to make a big difference

in terms of insulin response"

?

this sounds interesting...

thanks!

I do well eating little to no carbs for breakfast, it absorbs slowly, and keeps me full and energized for a while

This way you can also keep insulin sensitivity up until post-workout.

My recent breakfasts have been 3-4 extra large eggs scrambled, a handful of mixed greens, and a few tablespoons of mediterranean 3-layer dip which consists of pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and feta-cheese

Poliquin is ok with fruit for breakfast too.

It's a good jump start. I personally don't like to in choke down 100% protein and fat meals

first thing. Like something fresh and light, like you are mentioning. I'll have my main breakfast

an hour after, usually.

What I meant saying the GI of carbs is moderated by protein and fat eaten with it, because

things slow digestion and absorption. Even a fast carb will act more slowly due to this.
