Tom Weksler
A couple of shots of me playing on the grass. Capoeira Acrobatics, Tumbling, Floreio and my own inspiration were blended to create this piece. enjoy!
gymrob
Hi there Tom,That was absolutely WICKED! I loved that blend of various arts that you were conveying. It was all so amazingly good but those tumbles and tricking type moves along with the capoeira were great. I have to think twice doing front and side flips on grass...and then you just do corkscrews and full twists etc like they are nothing to you.Keep it up very inspiring!
Tom Weksler
gymrobThank you very much for your kind words.I practically grew up on grass which makes it very comfortable for me to work on. If you get control over the fundumental basic technique you have the abillity to control and change the skill according to the surface you perform it on, the style of your art or sport or however you want it to look like. stay tuned for more
Blairbob
Cool and it got me to look up what Floreio is.
Edward Smith
I was gonna ask that. What is Floreio?I had a quick look on google, but it only came up with events, videos and song's. On Ido's blog it mentions it but doesn't go too in depth but looking at the videos it seems to be about moving on the hands, not like handbalancing. Anyway nice video Tom. Nice style like gymrob said with going from capoiera to acrobatics. Ed
Tom Weksler
Floreio (flowering) is a body language that comes from traditional capoeira. It usually refers to movements in which either one or two hands are touching the ground. Floreio can have alot of diffrent uses inside capoeira - moving in space, defending yourself or escaping from your partner's attacks. It is also an artistic tool for self expression. The possiblities in this area are endless and as Ido says - "finding and exploring" new floreio is one of the best body - mind workouts. Since we use everything from handstands and back bridges to elbow levers and push up variations you can recognize alot of "gymnastics" inside this art.
