Standing Back Full

I am currently having a difficult time learning my standing back full. My back tuck is set pretty high but every time I twist my body lays out like a full from a running pass. It is my understanding that the legs need to tuck in to actually get the rotation faster with the height deficit from the standing position.

Anyone have any tips on achieving this skill?

BTW back tucks and standing full practice do huge work on the abs and obliques! :lol:

Tucking makes twisting harder. Opening makes the rotation harder. You'd probably have to go for a compromise between the two: kinda opened hips and bent knees. If you have enough power in your legs, that'll help. Doing squats and deadlifts will help for your leg power, and doing standing backs onto a pile of mats will help you to apply the power you gain.

Initiate the twist with your body as open as possible and tuck to increase speed.

A standing back is not the same technique as a tumbling layout. In a sense it's ass backwards, earlier vs later.

Yeah, from standing it's better to do a "contact twist" then a "tilt twist". Meaning, you have to start the twist from when you push the ground, instead of only starting it by tilting your body once you're in the air only.

That is what I have noticed as well. When I twist early "off the ground" i get around more than when i twist in the top "V" of my set like a running full. Just wondered if that was normal or if i was supposed to try to get the set before initiating the twist. Thanks!

No, it's normal. When you do a twist from a run, you get enough hight to be in a layout position, so twisting is pretty easy. If you do it from standing, you're tucked or open tucked, so you need a bit more to get the twist done. Unless you have a huge jump that allow you to do standing layouts.
