This man is beyond inspiring. Every year he add to his career becomes more and more impressing.

Thanks to him it's clear now, age is not an excuse.

He said in an interview(in Bulgarian) that he's thinking about OG 2012(He will be 39 years old). Jovtchev also said that it is getting harder and harder to keep on the strength requirements for the rings.

Damn that is frikkin impressive. Slighty short holds on rings but can't blame him, he is doing some hard stuff still. Truly hope to see him in 2012 olympics! That'd just be phenomenal!

Being about his same age, I definitely am inspired by him! I have to say, coming up on 40, I feel as strong, if not stronger, than I did 20 years ago. I have not had anywhere near the wear and tear as a competitive gymnast though, and I know that I don't have the same powers of recovery as I did when I was younger, nor the capacity for volume. Still, I attribute the greater strength to better nutrition and smarter training. And, of course, better quality training, such as has been provided by Coach Summer's BTGB progarm.

I hope Mr. Jovtchev does go to London. And also returns to Sasuke/Ninja Warrior.

I'm 37, mainly coming from martial arts (wushu) and started a little gym at 30. The gain in core strenght was amazingly beneficial to kicks etc and I got hooked. Don't know why, I also went naturally to the rings.

Now I dream about iron crosses and ring handstands :P

And I continue to progress (full BL first, full FL very rencently, wide MU, press handstand, nearly V-sit etc) !! Mainly thanks to this site...

The volume is harder to keep along with intensity and the pace changes during training, but recovery is still ok for me.

And just like you, I AM stronger than I was 15 years ago (got proofs :D ).

I sense I just have to keep it easy with planche (only SST here) along with lots of prehab and rear / external rotation work. Just like everyone else :wink:

Familly charges and tiring days may be, but definitly, age is not an excuse...
