Hello everyone,

I have been in China for the last couple of years and have learned a lot of things. I have been running a gym coaching expat children as a side project. I have been renting a local Shanghai gym and using the local coaches to help me out. Things are about to get serious so we are about to go in on getting our own gym and our own equipment.

I want to have a system that is similar to the USAG level system. I have searched online, but I can't find it for some reason. I would really appreciate it if someone could post up a link for mens and womens USAG level progression requirements. Thanks a lot and if you guys are ever in Shanghai, please hit me up!!

Thank you,

Ted

Ted,

Yes, help can certainly be forthcoming regarding competition levels, however doesn't China already have a compulsory program in place?

Wangtang,

USAG JO men program: http://www.ngja.org/images/stories/2009-2012/JO_docs/jo_course_notes_2010-v102a1-all.pdf That is linked from the National Judge's Association of Gymnastics.

Keep in mind the routines will be changed for the girl's and boy's pretty soon. New quadrennium and all.

Proposed new routines for next quad for women's JO L1-6. These are not detailed step by step.

Current women's JO routines:

Towards the bottom of the page. Plenty of skill charts for boy's and girls.

http://www.gym.net/resources.htm

Other handy pages:

http://usa-gymnastics.org/PDFs/Women/Rules/J.O.%20Code%20of%20Points/2009-13cheatsheetappndix12-2009.pdf

Tops skills and routines (but not physical testing): http://usa-gymnastics.org/PDFs/Women/TOPs/10skills.pdf

Women's elite compulsory routines: http://usa-gymnastics.org/PDFs/Women/ElitePre-Elite/11elitecompulsory.pdf

So Ted, does this mean you can trade us(ME) all the chinese materials you have :?: :mrgreen:

Jeesus............ Thank you so much dude. Some of these websites I have looked through but I can't get into because of this stupid firewall that this country has on it's internet.

I can definitely give you some insight on Chinese gymnastics. Just ask any question you would like and I will try my best to get you a good answer!

Best regards,

Ted

Yes, China has it's own system, but it is not for everyone. What you see is a trend of less and less people doing gymnastics in China because its a sport that requires you to dedicate all of your time into. Kids will only go to some classes and spend almost all their time in the gym training. What you also see in China is a system where these companies put on "gymnastics" classes which are nothing more than glorified babysitting for foreign families.

What I have been doing for the past year is renting a gym here through the shanghai athletic association and running classes out of it during the weekday nights and weekends. I want to make it into a legit business now so I would like to get some processes down and figure out how to allocate the kids in terms of levels.

If anyone wants to help me develop this gym, shoot me a PM.

Thank you,

Ted

How much does the Chinese differ from the American programs. And how? And also how much do they focus on training strength as opposed to training Skills?

Ted, PM me and I will download and archive any of the sites you can't get and send them to you via zip or rar.

I'll be more than willing to help you develop a curricula. I've made my own before besides still having a lot of the curricula from a lot of the gyms I've been at.

Bare in mind, the Junior Olympic systems are not necessarily the elite track systems. It's more of a system for everybody while training to be good enough, but not necessarily the best. Words from the creators of the systems.
