Hi guys, so i got the Book, i am missing the rings, i may get them in a week or so, anyway, so i putted together a routine throwing in a bunch of basic exercises from the book, but i dont know how to to organize them, as im used to do 3 sets of 8-12 reps per move, so this is the routine i got so far,

. L sit, PB low, 3 sets of like 10-15 secs

. frog stand, 3x30 secs

. push ups arms close to the waist. 3x10

. single bar dip 3x10

. korean dip 3x10

. HSPU with wall support 3x6-10 ( i dont manage to 10 in the last set )

. and a regular abs routine 3 times a week, 3 moves, 3x20 each, targeting one zone of the abs per workout.

. 10 minutes of High intensity interval training cardio in a trampoline.

the problem is that it gets really dark really early at this time of the year, and so i have to do the cardio first while the sun still shines, and then the routine, so i do the dips outside too, so what i do is, first, the 2 kind of dips, then cardio, and then the routine, but by the time i finish the pushups, im so exhausted, that i couldnt even finish to do the HSPU and the abs routine.

SO maybe there is something wrong with how i organize the sets and reps, maybe its wrong to do 3 sets of 10 reps, since this are different moves than weight lifting, maybe im trying to do too much, so anyone can give me advice to improve my routine?

For starters, it's all pushing. At the very least you need as many pulling exercises as pushing. So, drop some of the pushing exercises, add pulling, and then have a separate day when you do other exercises. You don't need to cram everything in on one day. Same thing with abs, you don't need to do 3 sets of 3 different exercises, just pick 1 and do the others on different days.

Triangle is right. Pulling exercises would balance your routine out more. Currently, it will lead to an injury and not being able to train. I highly reccomend you follow the WODs. They are made for you to progress in the best way possible. Gymnastic exercises aren't something where you can pick and choose what you do and don't do. It needs to be progressed in a certain manner with certain progressions.

Where do i find the WODs?

edit: never mind, i found them.. ill check them out

Pulling exercises would balance your routine out more.

Actually this is understated; pulling exercises are essential for shoulder girdle health.

I am assuming you meant to say that you would do pullup sets instead of korean dips and not push up sets. If this is the case, then your routine may still be very unbalanced for you. Are you already imbalanced toward pulling and are looking to fix it?

rem

yea sorry about that... i wrote pushups intead of pull.. xD, im not looking to fix my pulling, i just want a balanced routine to get started with gymnastic strength, i dont have my rings yet, so for now i didnt put pulling in the routine, but there is an old steel bar coming out of a wall in my backyard, so i can manage to do some pullups/chinups on there. so how could i balance the routine ??

Philip Chubb

Is that bar enough room to get some front lever work in? That would be a start.

rem

defintely not, the most i can make out of it, is pullups, and i cant even make a grip shoulder wide, cause the stick is too short.

if you have sufficient pulling strength, throw a towel over the bar and do towel pullups. they suck... and I hate them... with a passion... but they're good bang for the buck with limited equipment.

Jaja that sounds like fun challenge, ill sure give it a try
