Alexis Solis
Coach,I wanna buy a pair of Xtreme Rings but I wonder if they can hold for swings. Also, I don't know how to set them up =S
Razz
Kips are fine, swings are not recommended.
Blairbob
To note, I have seen a gym that hung a set of Rogue rings for use as their rec gym rings. Bare in mind, only small children were swinging for them. I recognized them by the straps, but they used different old wooden rings. A lot of it gets done to what you are mounting them to. There is obviously a difference of force being generated by a child and adult.
Cole Dano
Swinging is OK without acrobatic elements, in others words doing a support swing is perfectly safe on the Xtreme rings.
Razz
support swings are cool, but if you want to do real swings I'd advise never moving past that (i.e. no dislocates/inlocates). Oh and you'll have to tape your rings, so IMO if you want to work swings, go to a real gym.

Alexis Solis
All right, so I've made up my mind... no swings for me on the xtreme rings =] THanks!
Blairbob
I've yet to try, but I would feel a lot more comfortable about doing any swings on the commercial wood rings than the others do to slippage factor and the ability to hold chalk. For instance I thought about switching out a set for the lil guys instead of some sort of weird rings we had on one set.
Coach Sommer
Fitness rings are not designed for swinging elements. You should ONLY perform these types of elements on rings designed expressly for gymnastics competition.Yours in Fitness,Coach Sommer

rubadub
Even if the rings were designed for it, I would be far more worried about the attachment point, which is probably the "weakest link".

Blairbob
Yep, I was fairly dubious about wondering if fitness straps and rings would be appropriate for a rec gym ring setup. Generally, I would think the buckle would be a weak point and over time it would dig and fray the strap.

Blairbob
That entirely depends on what you use them for. I have had four pairs set up as conditioning stations for 3+ years now with no issues at all. I meant this in regards to swinging and learning basic ring elements not just as conditioning. Ideally, I would have as many ropes and rings as I could set up and hang.
