We currently finished sPL/PE7>iM and now moving on to the next step.  Wow!  Seems like a huge leap.  We are still working to finish up 5x15 on regular push ups (almost there) so I assume we should just put sPL/SE1>iM on hold until we finish our planche push ups after we finish our regular pushups?  Or is there a scalable approach we should be working on?  Thanks!

As you will read in the link provided below...

In addition to other hollow back press preparatory elements. Mastering HBP/PE3 with your hands at your waist will help you a lot with "Bent Arm Half Straddle Planche Hold."

If is fairly common to get stuck on sPL/SE1>iM. The lack of pressing strength in your triceps and or in shoulder rotor cuff muscles during flexion are usual culprits. While gradually using more weight... if you continue to work on HBP/PE3>iM you will develop enough pressing strength in your shoulders. If you do not already know... Granted a majority of body builders use dips and push up variations for chest development. Gymnasts use them for primarily tricep development.

Hey Zach,

Don't stall your sPL training out. Keep progressing in HBP and sPL as scheduled. See how it goes with sPL/SE1 and post a form check or video review. Also post some form checks of your planche lean progressions if you haven't already.

Everett,

Thanks for the feedback.  Thanks.  So you mean, just work on the strength element for awhile, assuming over time we'll gain the strength to do the mobility section?

Coming from several years of experience completing frogstand (aka: Crow or Crane pose)  as part of my yoga practice. If you continually completed the strength element, you will gain some of the strength needed for the iM.

As mentioned beforehand you will gain more of the needed strength from the other parts of the foundation series.

Hey Zach,

Still work on the iM. Form checks are your friend here.

I guess my questions is "how?" when it comes to working on this position.  It seems so beyond where we are that beside just working on the planche pushups I'm not sure how to scale this movement.  Advice here would be appreciated! :)  Thanks!

This is the best place to start. I always prefer seeing a video of planche lean form before providing specific scaling options for this iM.

Got it.  Will do!
