jamesters
I've been told recently that legs should be together even on standing skills such as standing back tuck, back half, and back full. Is that true? What about front flip and side flip? I'd image you could get more power and height with feet like shoulder width. Apparently having feet together keeps you more centered though which is supposed to help for flips?
Seiji
Hi Jamesters I think it looks nicer when the legs are together. I would imagine that keeping the legs shoulder width apart keeps you centered because it's harder to shift your weight. You might unconsciously lean when your legs are together, it's a little easier to fall over. Also, yes, you should be able to jump higher with legs shoulder width apart. Richard Duelley
I do all of my standing things with my feet shoulder width apart. . . some of the lifelong gymnasts yell at me about putting my feet together . . . but I dont see them doing standing fronts, I just tell them that when they get a standing front I will start putting my feet together. They just respond by saying Im nuts I say do whatever is comfortable to you.
Blairbob
Preferably feet together but my knees or legs tend to be slightly apart on standing back tuck or pike.
DrAlexisOlson
I tend to be a perfectionist, so I always do them with legs together. You can get plenty of power with them together.Standing fronts are quite easy for me with legs together, but then again I can do them off of one foot.UvjVV_djKfM Some more standing work.bd4LJEFUGa0 I usually land with my feet slightly apart for better stability.
