Tendon Strain During Training

Hello,

Have Been training with rings for a few months, but last period I feel that tendons around my elbows became rather strained, even feel a little pain during and after intensive workouts, such as push up/pull up ladders or pyramids. Tryed to decrease the intensity and it helped a bit, but too low intensity workout does't meet my goals to properly master gymnastic exercises and gain the strength needed.

Please share your thoughts if some of you have also experienced this problem with elbow tendons during ring and other bodyweight training and how you fixed that.

Thanks.

Back off and rest. Massage, Ice.

Usually it's medial epicondylitis

With those symptoms, you are training too hard and probably with too much volume for your

current levels of strength. While it is good that you are dedicated and want to strive

to do your best, you must also be aware that building strength is not an overnight

process and that you must respect the limited recovery ability of your body.

I would recommend that you follow a steady state training cycle for the next 8 weeks.

Make sure to design one that is not too strenuous on your still developing connective

tissues; if in doubt as to what is appropriate, at this stage always lean toward

moderation. Patience is key here. Training is a lifelong endeavor, spending a few

months building a solid foundation from which to progress is a wise investment.

Thanks a lot for helpful tips and your time.

I used to have lots of problems with my elbows, which are also hyperextended, I did as coach and plain logic suggested, ie.

- reduced the load, doing too much, in the long run will lead you to nowhere near your goals because you will spend much more time recovering from too strenouos trainings or much worse - from an injury.

- improved the program, meaning that I kicked out the stuff which was too hard on me elbows and focused on laying a solid foundation of strength, which really is essential.

- improved my diet and rest periods, you must eat and sleep well in order to progress, I also incorporated stuff like aminoacids and creatine which for me works wonders.

hope that helped

cheers,

Chris
