A side view would be better. All I can say from this angle is you could tuck the chin.
Your hands should be directly under your shoulders.
You have to go deeper - chest touches the ground, your shoulders touching almost your hands on your deepest position.
Take out a little bit of speed like in the video.
thanks for the replies.
a gymnast recently told me that my elbows should touch my body when i do a push up. so my main concern was about how close to get the hands and elbows to the body, which is why i only showed the front view.
upon closer inspection of the video of the gb athlete, though, only his thumbs and pointer fingers appear to be directly under his shoulders. his elbows seem to have a lot of clearance. but then again, it's difficult to be completely sure due to the angle of the shot. what do you think in light of this info? should i still bring my hands and elbows in more, or is the hand/elbow placement ok, as it is?
thanks
Those are good pushups but as others said I would put palms a tad more under your shoulders and make sure your hip is not sagging so you can hit your chest on the ground before your hips/thighs touch.
Looking at the course pics&vid i don't think the elbows are directly brushing the guys side. While the arms are not flared they are certainly not parralel to the torso, i believe this was brought up in a previous thread where there was an debate over the very narrow position actually being an anatomically weaker position to push from. This program is difficult enough without adding extra levels of pain.
In your vid, OP, change your head position to more neutral and aim o go a bit deeper.
Yeah, watching the course video again I'd say your hand spacing is fine. But like others have said, try to remain more protracted and hollow (maintain PPT/keep glutes active) to avoid letting the body sag, and look at the floor, not out in front of you.
ok, thanks for all the responses.
hey tom040287, do you have a link to that thread?
i'd be interested to see it.
if not, that's ok.

After an extensive trawl through the forum back pages, quiet morning, there you go. Hope it helps.
thanks
