Do you need 60s L-sit to begin FL and BL?

Hi, the question is as the topic says.

I know they say that you have to have a 60s floor l-sit before beginning PL, or at least 3x30s l-sit.

What about FL and BL? Can you train them side by side while you are training the l-sit?

Thanks.

i think a 30 second l sit is enought.I got the tucked planche while i was only 15 second l sit . a 60 second l s it will only improve your endurance and to be able to hold fl and bl you need more strength

No, it isn't required before you start training the other Fundamental Static Positions (FSP).  Being able to do several 60 second l-sits is good for abdominal development.

When training to hold the other FSP the position of your scapula and the rotation of your shoulder's ball joint make a big difference.

I'd like to chime in and add a quote by Coach: "It should always be remembered that many times the "magic", or overall effectiveness, of an exercise lies not in the broad general parameters of a movement, but in the specific details of how it is performed." Doing an 60 second L-sit with whatever-form probably won't do much good, whereas doing a 60 second L-sit with correct form will give many benefits.

3x30 tuck L is generally the requirement before you start front lever work.

3x30 german hang is necessary before you start back lever work.  Note that this is with your palms facing toward the ground.

And I'm going to throw in a 3x30 planche lean before you start on planche progressions.

60s L sit is still a pretty good goal to shoot for though.  Include it as part of your warmup.  If you have the full 60s L sit, then you'll only be held back by your shoulders when you go to start lever work.
