Lucas Abner
Hey guys Im training HS presses (v-sit press) and I want to do 10 rep. Is there another way of training for this (like, changing the number of sets or something) besides only practicing more hanstand presses? This is my situation now; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqTR1NRYfo4 Thanks. FREDERIC DUPONT
Impressive Lucas.Sorry I can't help you, I don't know if this movement can be trained the same way as other more basic moves to develop endurance. On the other hand, it shouldn't be long for you to now reach and exceed 10 reps; the question you need to ask yourself and others, is if it is the best use of your training time, or if it would be more productive to work on harder progressions? Good work! [From my untrained eye, you seem a little too fast on your reps; maybe working on more control both on the ascent and descent would be a good idea?]
Lucas Abner
Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I agree with you. What progressions whould you suggest? Currently I1m working on the manna (in chair / parallet) and the planche. Regarding your [question] : It might be the same thing, because in both ways the muscle will fatigue. What likely happen is that I will have more control during the slow HS presses.
FREDERIC DUPONT
Come on now Lucas, be serious a little bit: asking me is akin to a rocket scientist asking the janitor for help with his equations!
Russell Sims
If I could get one of these one day i'd flip out. I'm no legitimate source of gymnastic advice but maybe try something like a frenchy for the pull-up where you put in an isometric contraction at certain point during the press. You have crazy flexibility by the way..keep on doing whatever it is that got you seven presses, and I'm sure you'll reach ten. Good luck.
ADRIANO FLORES CANO
Lucas, you have a ton of potential to do amazing feats (more) with your body if you start Foundation Series. Also, you've to improve your hs a lot, because although you can press really good your hs is not at the same level as the rest of your repertory.Your flexibility and strength, well guided, it would be amazing.Respect to your question, you will get it as soon as you have more endurance, through more volume. 5x5 weighted, for example. But I'm with Fred in his opinion. Christoph Pahl
I find it interesting to see here some people training differently than the rest: F1+H1, F2 ... In any case, Lucas got his manna faster than by paying and following the official way. He followed his own program - doesn't mean it's better, but from variety you can always learn more. Daniel Burnham
Well I just watched the second video and freds comment is spot on. You need more control. You aren't hitting a proper handstand in the later reps and are using some arch to get up. I would actually suggest getting into a good handstand first and doing a negative then a positive. Always rest in the handstand rather than the lsit. This will make it much more challenging.
Lucas Abner
Thanks you all for commenting As Daniel said, I'II now practice only slow and controlled HS presses. Doing This, I'ill be able to improve my form and it's also much harder,.. Here is a video of me doing it. Please check the form of my press and of HS in it... maybe I can do 2/3 of it is so hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ2VCEusiEg&feature=youtu.be
