Using an under grip (chin-up grip with palms facing towards you) will help to minimize lat involvement.  Not nearly as good as working on a stall bar, but much better than nought.

Just some status quo facts about my sternum problem:

yesterday i could find a doctor, who still takes new patients, yeah!(you wouldn't believe how hard this is in germany, me neither before)

so i was there because of some pain around my sternum, its a pressure not very hard, but when i push light against my sternum it feels quite uncomfortable. prehistory is 3 years ago i had an accident in soccer match, crashed with the keeper in the air. his knee hit my rips, one was maybe partially fractured, they couldn't be sure for 100%.

so over the years no real pain but especially last year it happened more often and i noticed with some strange movings of my arms i could sometimes get the pressure out of my sternum with a click sound, felt not good, but better than before.

for one year i was asking another doctor, he said might just be an irritated nerve from the accident, just stretch more and you will be fine.

so the doctor yesterday, he's also a physical therapist told me 2 more logical reasons for the feeling in my sternum:

1. there was a small fissure in my sternum as an reaction of the rip movement while getting hit and because the doctors earlier did not gave me antibiotics for inflammation over a longer period, there could be still this inflammation and in the damaged area of the bone theres a weak part not rebuilt with bone structure...breaks everytime i move wrong(just for imagination)

2. maybe my sternum is still not repaired totally where the rip gets connected...the bone wants to build up his material, but the chondral couldn't be rebuild because of that, different stadiums of regeneration, something like that he said...was way more complex, haha

so i will have to stop training for 2 weeks at least, not everything!- but dips are out and push ups too, rest is ok if the pressure isn't hard for sternum. have to take medicament, 1 pill a day(for inflammation and building calcification) and theres also a date for a new xray

Everything he explained me with help of some sketches was comprehensible, i could imagine both 2 options.

and i think it became harder over the last 12 months, because i did ring dips..there i felt some pressure, no pain, but sometimes.

I took a break of a half year after the accident, but maybe still not fully recovered at this time.

Just wanted to share this, because i read about this pain around sternum a lot over the months.

And i find it really interesting.
