Requirements before learning Giants?

I'm just wondering what I should be able to do before learning giants on HB. I can cast handstand in over and under grip pretty consistently.  Also working on kip cast handstand.

I know both giants are learned at the same time (level 7 I believe) but It seems like front giants are easier. Is it best to start with front giants? Do front and back giants have different prerequisites?

Actually giants should be BONUS in L6. I haven't looked since last year.

Learning them in strap you can train both. Quite often a kid ends up going over forwards front before they do a back giant as an accident. It can still be done in an overgrip in straps.

WAG generally teaches baby giants/ 3/4 giants before back giants. In L6 there is a baby giant for MAG as well. I have seen some older boys skip training baby giants and have their coaches train full back giants instead but it's probably the exception versus the rule. Pretty easy to train them that way in straps.

As for training it without straps, get a coach. Or pray and try not to kill yourself.

In straps, you can focus on bigger and bigger swings in the back and front. Big Hollow in the back, hold, tap and kick. Return until they get bigger and bigger. Some coaches allow kids to train it from the support. Cast, pushaway/bail, kick. I think you should develop it from the swing and then move on to the cast. Then you can play with doing it from a stemme to uprise push away to giant.

Btw, it's a good idea to know how to swing 1/2 turn. This gives you a drill to bailout in case you don't make it. This also develops into the blind change.
