Circus Schools UK

Hey again guys!

Currently I am planning on taking a 2 year course at a circus school after A levels/grades. However, the one which I've had a close eye on seeing as it's near me (circomedia) doesn't have a chinese pole instructor which is of my biggest and greatest interest.

I am willing to pay for accommodation so if anyone knows of any circus schools within England or preferable more south-ish and west area that actually teach chinese pole. Please, please, please leave a post, I'd be very grateful! Or even if it all comes to last, Wales, Ireland and Scotland are fine too!

Many thanks! Jake.

The only schools I know in the UK is Circomedia in Bristol and Circus Space in london. I dont know how the level of chinese pole is at circus space, but you could check it out. There are a lot of schools around europe if you would consider going abroad. Depending on your level there are preparatory and professional schools. AFUK in Copenhagen and ENACR just outside of Paris are both pretty good schools that take in people with different levels of experience. There are also several professional schools such as DOCH in stockholm, where I graduated, CNAC in Chalons in France and ESAC in Brussels that are the 3 biggest in europe.

Most circus schools require auditions and im pretty sure most auditions for the next year has already finished, but if you are serious in studyin chinese pole, consider training for a year and applying to different schools. Finding good chinese pole teachers is pretty hard since it is a very technical and difficult discipline to learn. If you really want to get good and work with it, it you should consider at least a 3 years education.

I'll check London for sure.. A question of finance... How were you able to pay for accommodation? Did they have any places onsite, or did you have to get a bursary? Or was it all paid for by yourself?

Also, when you say professional, is this having a previous education in circus school or they specialize on 1 or 2 disciplines to a high standard?

Edit: Just to mention, I'm not intending to become cirque du soleil standard within my years of training in a school, more of to Fletcher Sanchez's level or Remi Martin as I like those styles, maybe Cirque Du soleil 10 years later ;)
