seins345
Hi there, im having a hard time with my front tucks, im so frustrated cause i cant feel im progressing at all with them. My front currently looks like 1:19 on this video: Im really getting frustrated cause i dont feel im jumping at all, i dont get that feeling i have with my backflip when im fully conscious when im at my highest point and then proceed to tuck, i dont have that feelling with the front, on my back i even have time on my mind to count 1 jump, 2 wait, 3 tuck, but on fronts i dont feel like i know what im doing. I feel it has to do with my blocking and jumping technique, but no matter what i do i cant fix it, and my coach doesnt really care about us on our collegue, he sometimes give us advice but most of the time he is on his phone, so basically we learn everything by ourselves. I dont care if i have to do boring drills like jumping but im willing to do everything that could be useful, so could you guys can give me some advice about front flip baby steps ? if you have something like a tutorial it would be even better!! Thank you very much.
Joshua Slocum
Take a video of yourself if you want specific advice. The problem with your front tuck might be entirely different than what's demonstrated in the video. Generic things you can do to improve your front tuck are: punch drills to improve your punch (can you punch with straight-legs onto a 2'/.6m high block? If not, your punch is a weak link)punch-dive-rolls for height to improve your set (can you dive over a stick held at chest height?)front tucks on trampoline or tumble track to improve your air-sense If you master those three movements, a front-tuck should come easily.
Blairbob
Need to see video before we can really give advice.
Sailor Venus
Start off with dive rolls. At the actual jump, have like 60% or slightly more bodyweight behind the balls of your feet when you jump. Then dive UPWARDS like 25 to 30 something degrees. At the apex of the dive, drive your hands and shoulders to the floor and roll on the ground. After warming up with dives, do the above again and this time, when you drive your hands and shoulders to the floor, use your back muscles to pull your hips over your head to create momentum. Legs should be tucked in when you begin to lift your hips over. To summarise, here some points to remember: Over half of bodyweight behind ball of feet when jumping.Dive upwards between 25 to 30 degrees. (Oh I forgot, make the dive wide as possible)At the top of the dive, point your hands and shoulders downwards.Bring your knees in.Throw your hips and your ass over your head.Open your legs again to stick the landing.Profit.
