Hey guys,

MN/PE1 tested out last week and now i am moving on to PE2.  MN/PE1 is solid, feel controlled, can squeeze my legs against my chest. The problem is, even after a great warm up and stretch, i still am having trouble even getting a solid rep of PE2. There is a serious cramp/tightness/weakness in my quads. The spread of my legs is good, however my legs are barely a foot and a half off the ground.

I have heard that this quad tightness/weakness comes from an over tightness in the hamstring which is must over come to move the leg where it needs to go. Between stretching and foam rolling i feel pretty loose but still not a satisfactory result.

Any stretches to suggest? Keep at the PE2 even at the limited ROM and just try to gradually increase it while not going past it until full ROM reps are completed? Go back to PE1, what to focus on?

Thanks

the assigned iM will help you Strengthen/Mobilize your hamstrings, the progressions in Mn/PE have as an integrated mobility, the development of the Gymnastics Pike position. what you CAN do is post your mastery of the iM for PE1, to see if you're executing it correctly or if you can add any spice to it.

Jefferson curls are gnarly on my back, but I do feel the loaded stretch on my hamstrings. just gotta work on it, thats all!

make sure you're using 45lb's on the MN/PE>iM UNLESS otherwise recommended by the moderators.

so basically, just work on it, you're a work of art in progress, you won't be the finished product right out the gate but you will improve as time goes on. just make sure not to cheat yourself and prove "mastery" as Coach Sommer has defined it.

I had a similar problem.  Coach's advice (which can be found in this thread) was to start at week 1 and work on the quality of the iM.

Since then I've kept the tempo of my straddle ups very slow and lifted my legs powerfully with a small isometric pause at the top of each rep in the attempt to improve my active flexibility along with my passive (from Jefferson Curls).

Hope that helps.

2 great replies and your thread link was what i should have found and not even posted this! Whoops!

Thanks

I warm up with stiff legs windmills, and do some seated straddle stretches in between sets - that helps. :)

Let's not exaggerate the load here... I started with a 12 Kg KB and will keep it there for the first microcycle; then if alles klar, I'll up to 16Kg, then 20Kg... No sense rushing this thing! :)

Same, let's not exaggerate here either!
