I was a skinny fat guy about to turn 40 could not do a single pull up or a strict form push up! After count less google searches on how to do a pull up and getting side tracked at some other web sites . I finally found this site . It has changed my life and I try to tell everyone I know about it. I wish someone would of done that for me years ago

I have no idea how I found the dragon door article, but as soon as I read it I realized I needed to find this "Gymnastic Bodies" place and learn more.

I searched Google, bought the book + DVDs + rings 10 minutes later, and started training.

This site has been an incredible place for me in terms of personal development, professional development, physical development, and a great source of new friends. If I talked about everything this place has meant to me, and still does, over the past 5 years it would be the longest thing I have ever written on this site.

All I will say is this: I'm glad I found GB, I'm proud to be part of the community, and I look forward to everything that the future will bring here.

I forget exactly where, but I believe I read an article that Coach Sommer wrote about learning an Iron Cross, and I thought "hey this guy seems to actually know what he's talking about". So I came over here, started reading all the stickies and blog posts he'd written, and then started reading everything else and posting questions. It's an excellent community, and I'm very glad to have this resource to help with training.

I've always disagreed the whole bodybuilding/getting huge fast mentality of fitness.  Instead I got heavily into calesthenics and I used to frequent bar athlete forums such as Barbarians, watch Bar Bro videos, and etc.  I actually found Gymanstic Bodies by following a link on the Barbarians forums that linked to a topic here about hypertrophy vs endurance vs strength training.  I would come back to this site every now and then because of the wealth of knowledge it posessed with anything from nutrition to workout protocols and etc.  Eventually as i got stronger I bought a set of rings, started doing gymanstic body weight exercises, and the rest is history.

A friend of mine got me into parkour and from there I realize how weak I was. I was about 115 lbs. I got a gym membership and used the machines for a month or so. From doing this I became able to lift more weight but never any applicable strength gains. Then I got 'You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren and this got me into bodyweight training. Shortly after I found this website and got into Gymnastic Strength Training™. This was all about a year ago, I only recently started using the forum extensively. I have gotten over the "I WANT MY PLANCHE NOW" mentality and opted for the longevity mentality.

I read the DragonDoor article from 2004 and found the website. Not sure how I found the article originally, but I'm really glad I did.

Google. After hours of finding stuff on gymnastic conditioning. Eventually nearly all my weight training is replaced by gymnastic conditioning and calithenics. The only weight lifting i do is Olympic lifting.

A friend of mine bought the building the gymnastic bodies book and rings and then he showed me the website I had up until recently been in a mentality of street workout is superior then other forms of acquiring strength but thanks to my friend I now know that GST is one of the best if not best way to get strong such as Ido Portal says " Street workout is just broken down gymnastics" and I now realize that and its been about a month since then and my progress has been getting more noticeable since I have been incorporating GST into my training I thank this website and all who contribute

Dragondoor, then dissatisfaction with the piecemeal approach of most programs.

Reading the intro to btgb resonated with me-- can't quote from memory, but it was about training one thing at a time, and having endurance go up, vertical jump down, etc, and being unable to find a method that addressed everything at once. I'm supremely entitled and arrogant in my own way, so I believe I deserve the best of it all, and here I am pursuing that :)

A friend of mine gave me his ab wheel. Trying to figure out how to use it led me to beastskills.com, which led me to the infamous article on dragon door, I imediately started with that little info in the article. When I finally got to the website proper, the first book was still months away from being released, and I got it as soon as it came out. This must have been 2008 I guess.

Wow, over 4 years... has it really been that long?

 And that's saying something!

I've 'found' this website several times. I think I even have another account from a few years back. beastskills was one source, T-Nation interview/article was another, and I've probably seen the DD article quite a few times from different places. Most recently I decided to type 'gymnastic bodies' into google to see whats new, and voila! There was F1! Bought it and never looked back.

I don't remember exactly how it went down but it all started a few years back when I couldn't afford going to the gym anymore so I went looking for substitutes. I found "The underground guide to warrior fitness" and ran with that a few months, did a lot of research online and stumbled upon Beast skills, and later found the BtGB book.

I was a lot into bodyweight "training" and already training for "planche" (bent arms, arched back).

Than i found coach's youtube channel. I watched all videos several times (i could not believe it), overcame urge to commit suicide and registered on forum :D

Back in 2004 someone on rockclimbing.com posted an article from dragondoor that Coach had written about Planche and Lever progression.  With the promise of one day writing a book about more GST coming in the future, I would randomly do searches over the next couple years until the gymnasticbodies.com website had been created.  Although I think it was originally olympic bodies or something.  Then BtGB was released and I've followed ever since!  Never really stuck to my workouts but I'm a fan!

I read Coach's original article in 2004, and of course tried the straddle planche right away.

I didn't become a member of the community until 2010 when I was looking for one arm handstand reference material and came across a couple of Ido's old posts.  I think at the time I had a wrist injury and was researching rehab for that as well

I was reading on the forums at Rosstraining and there was a link to a forum post here. That was in Nov / Dec. of 2012. I had a few incidents with a sore back from lifting my son and was looking to learn and get stronger to avoid further problems. Hasn't been a issue since.

Became interested in bodyweight movements and switched from a 5x5/ Rippetoe lifting program to mostly calisthenics. I became a big fan of the street workout guys like the Barbarians and Hannibal for King. One day while searching for back levers or something on youtube I found a GB video of these guys doing the moves with even better form, and on rings. After that I was sold

Jumped the gun on MU's and BL and started to have pain in my shoulder, started F1 two months ago and have been pain free
