The 5 Finger 1 Arm Handstand is a handstand drill that develops body control and strength throughout the shoulder girdle and core. This full body exercise helps the athlete toward a steady single arm handstand.

5 Finger 1 Arm Handstand

  1. Begin in a free handstand with your legs straddled wide.
  2. Shift weight over to your right side and come up onto all five of your left fingertips.
  3. As your raise up to your fingers, only your elbow should move.
  4. Never allow your free arm to relax or your shoulders to lose tension, protraction, or elevation.
  5. Keep your supporting shoulder over your supporting hand at all times.
  6. Hold for time before switching sides.
