Hello,

Some time ago i read here that i must do hollow body in all movements, but now, i read something about the "scapular pull ups ". They are with arched back, and as i read, 3 times harder and better for conditioning.

So, what i must do? scapular or hollow pull ups?

Thank you!

Coach Sommer

This is actually a very clear cut issue.

Scapular pullups are a very good tool for scapular mobility. Hollow pullups are for strength training.

Case in point; have you ever seen either a rope climb or an advanced ring strenth routine performed with fully retracted scapula? No. And you never will. It is important to use the correct tool to address the correct issue.

Thanks for posting on this Coach, it's important we keep these matters in perspective and avoid confusion.

I take this topic too to ask about the front lever technique. I saw some gymnasts doing it lifting the hips, arching a little bit the back. This makes it harder. But this is not hollow body. How i must do it?.

Thank you.
