xr-strap hs - hollow problems

hey crew,

i'm pretty sure i know the answer to this question, but i wanted to layout some baselines that i'm working with to see if anyone can better diagnos the problem..

so on the last xr-strap hs cycle, i had a HUGE problem staying hollow while inverted.i can keep the rings turned out 90% of the 12 cycles.. but not too long into locking the handstand position my ribs start coming out in front of me and forces myself into a huge arch.

a) wall hs / parallettes hs = not a problem

b) i've worked myself up to 2.5min on wall-hs and wall runs, while keeping hollow and proper hip positioning.

c) with new coach sanctioned strength work, my fl (hollow holds) are up to 4 x 48s without breaking form.

*since starting new strength program from seminar, i now have front pulls in straddle for multiple reps and ppp plus (in straddle).. really pumped about progress thus far! thanks Coach!

my questions was/is: is this just weak core or shoulder development? i was thinking about starting to work in more 'long hollows" in hope to make some progress in this area. any suggestions or notes from experience would be super appreciated as usual!

thanks

Turning out the rings in HS will most likely cause your shoulders to close a bit, which in turn will make you arch to conserve the position.

Work on stretching the lats, as they can be a determining factor, otherwise keep at it. It takes a while to get comfortable in rings HS.

My rings HS is still a bit arched

thanks Yuri!

I saw the notes about stretching and have been attacking the lats as well as hitting coach's latflys a couple times a week. I didn't want to sound repetitive, just trying to hone in on the weakness; i just noticed a similar problem on the parallettes when I'm fatigued. Hoping more volume on wall runs (in good form) and some more longhollows can help develop that strength endurance in a good open shoulder position..

thanks for the response, its appreciated; see you this weekend.
