Nigel Leeming
I had a problem with arthritis in my thumb a while ago and started taking it. What got rid of the arthritis was stretching my thumb by pulling it over the middle of my palm. However, I still take the pills now and again, in the hope that they may do something positive. The problem is that there is scant evidence that they do, and are more likely a fine example of the power of marketing and cool sounding names. The most likely effect is in adding some very expensive calories to your daily intake.I think this quote from Wikipedia sums it up best: "effect sizes from glucosamine supplementation were highest in industry-funded studies and lowest in independent studies".
