Haha, it LOOKS like a 1 arm front lever, but he is resting his the side of his body on the person lifting him, so there is a lot of friction which keeps him up and balanced. I have seen the same thing with a 1arm back lever as well.
This is typical circus. Since it is not a sport, things that look, but not neccesarily ARE very difficult/impressive is typical. Handbalancing canes are a good example. They make 1 arm handstands a lot easier than when done on the ground, but appears more impressive because it is done up high. Then again you have crazy hard things that can be done on a cane which is not as effectful on floor. In this act the hardest trick is probably the stand-up with 1 arm HS on the head.
