i'm following a workshop to become a gym teacher...we talked about the core strength and how is necessay to develop a strong body with great stability!!!

also we are 38 people at the course and no one can hold a front lever or a planche or a back lever...this can show how much the gymnastic activity and progression give to you a bulletproff abs and back, they ask to me if i was able to hold a planche on the wall with the arms completely extended, the told me that is damn difficult and you need a high level of core strength (think that for them do this position on the elbow at 90° is terrible)...so this is my result...can you do it?!

Alvaro

Nope :? , but mostly due to arm strength, with elbows only is pretty easy (I didn´t try for time).

Newguy
 Uhm, I find this actually quite easy. But I have always have have good core strength compared to everything else. And I also have a back lever so this is really nothing. But seriously gymnasts have such amazing core strength compared to pretty much everyone else. its no surprise they thought it was so hard.

yes for this reason i ask if you can do this because is damn simple, in a weigth gym you can see lots of people lift heavy heavy weigth ana they don't have only the 10% core strength of a gymnast...i think with the time that the consequence of this actions comes out!!!

Yup, that's not hard! In an other post, I talked about how to use a swing as an ab roller, and the position is similar to this, but much, much harder, especially if you bring your hands more forward to have the swing pull against you.

Alessandro Mainente

yes vagabond...what you sany is correct but this that you have to maintain the foots on the door...try it..

Vagabond

Just tried. Was really, really easy. It's very surprising that few people can do it. My girlfriend also tried it, and she didn't find it hard at all either.

Here, I have an other challenge:

You have to lay on your stomach. Keep a slight angle in your shoulders, build-up the tension in your abs, hip flexors, back and lats. Your partner have to grab your wrists or your palms, and to lift you, and you have to stay straight like a board. That's a pretty hard challenge. Ask your partner to tell you just before he goes, cause if you're not tensed enough, you'll bend like a rubber contortionist girl. :D

i wNT TO TRY IT THIS AFTERNOON...

Mikko Saks

never tried this before. held it for something like 10sec. pretty easily. i cant do a full FL, and im still working on my tuck planche. My back lever is solid for a good 20sec.

Alessandro Mainente

teried it yesterday...i thougth was more difficult! i find more difficult the doby lever on a incline benche press where the shoulder and the back don0t have to pass over an horizzontal imagine line...but i think is more dorsal strength

Vagabond

Yeah, the body lever is mostly lats strength. That "board body" challenge is harder on the core than it is on the lats. I personally find the "board body" harder than the body levers, since I've been doing a lots of them in the past. Have you tried them on a pole?

You place yourself back to the pole, with the pole on one side of your head. You grab it with both your hands, and using the shoulder joint, you pull your body up until it get horizontal. It's a bit painful for the traps. You can also climb the pole in this position, "jumping up" with your legs.

Alessandro Mainente

when i have an ipportunity i'll try it...but i focuse more of your exercise because i can do it but not in a easy way as the body lever...you tell me a new challenge!!!

Vagabond

Practice a lot with an ab roller, or use a swing in a park (put your ankles on it, and use it like an ab roller, it's even harder if you bring your hands more forward).
