Matthew Mossop
I've been convinced for a long time that you need carbs with your protein in order to optimize protein synthesis, but this guy seems to believe otherwise.http://www.marksdailyapple.com/muscle-b ... and-carbs/He has another interesting article where he advocates fasting after a workout once in a while.http://www.marksdailyapple.com/post-workout-fasting/
Razz
It all depends on your training too. If you're a hard working athlete training 4 hours or more a day, no way in hell you should be fasting post workout. If you just wanna be ripped and work out 2-3 times per week it's probably fine. Mark states in his articles that this is for relative strength and not for muscle building. The carb level is the same thing, if you're an athlete you may need more carbs, if you're working out 20 minutes 2-3x per week no way you need carbs. MH87
Always interesting reading stuff on that site.I dig what he's sort of saying - don't use post workout phase as an excuse to over-eat carbs which must be the point he's getting at right. On the other hand I dislike the notion of writing carbs off as being the devil, especially stuff like rice, legumes, sweet potatoes etc.http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/muscle ... ition.html^ article on 'Muscle Growth and Post-Workout Nutrition' by Lyle Mcdonald
