Paul Hamm arrested on assault charges

Hard to say.
He did lose his job at Ohio State. I'm not exactly sure what charges can be brought against him. Van Gelder screwed up as well though it was Cocaine and not being a drunk in public besides possibly resisting arrest and assault.
He could be arraigned for aggravated assault, a 4th degree felony which is 18mo to 6yrs in Ohio. Resisting arrest is 6-9mo and a 2nd degree misdemeanor. Being drunk in public is another 4th degree misdemeanor.
Imo, those charges aren't super serious for the most part. Aggravated assault could be though. So long as he doesn't have a record, he might get them knocked down quite a bit with a good lawyer. Figure some fines, maybe probation and counseling unless the judge wants to make an example out of him.
What's going to be far more difficult is for some other college to offer him an assistant position. However, he could probably find a club position, except that they don't pay much generally but might work out if he got training time as well.
