Coach Sommer

Perform the following:

3 sets of; XR HS, Negative Reverse MU to inverted hang, MU to SS, XR HSPU, lower down to XR Support Hold, negative MU down to hanging L-sit, Crank, Reverse Crank, Negative Front Pull

5x15 seconds FL

5x15 seconds XR Strap HS

5x15 seconds German Hang

Finish the workout with 2x10 Wall Extensions.

notes:

1) Do not rest during the Ring strength series.

2) You may use the feet on the straps to slow your descent during the negative Reverse MU.

3) If you are unable to perform MU to SS (shoulder stand), perform the MU to support first and then press to SS.

4) Strive to perform the MUs with an emphasis on strength; keeping the kipping minimized or preferably eliminated all together. Be especially conscientious in locking your arms and turning out the rings at the top of each repetition

5) Progressions for developing the XR shoulder stand are found in the Basic Ring Strength 3 essay.

6) Use the position of your choice during the Crank and Reverse Crank that allows you to control the descent while still being challenging. The ascent and descent of these elements may both be performed in different positions.

7) Complete all 3 sets of the ring strength series prior to beginning the static hold position sets.

8 ) Rest at least 3-5 minutes between ring strength sets.

9) Perform the static hold sets as a single giant set; perform a set of FL, then move immediately to the XR Strap HS and then move immediately to the German Hang.

10) A short rest (30-60 sec) is allowed during the static hold positions work only after a single giant set has been completed.

mmm scaling options if you can't do a xr hs/hspu in the ring series?

Alvaro

I do Box HSPU on the ground and respecting the HS, I lower the rings close to the floor and using a step I lean over the rings trying (or jumping  ) to Press to HS on XR(6-7 times ), and then I go to wall HS for 15 secs to finish the shoulders. If you have somebody who can hold the rings, is possible to Jump to XR HS(with the rings lowered and some kind of mat just in case!) and once with the legs secured at the straps, the other one can release his hands, is like 5 times more tiring than floor HS!

That was a tough one!

Had to break up the Ring Series and do the HSPUs on the floor, since my ceiling is way to low. Otherwise: As Rx'd :P

Have fun with this one, everybody!

Tonight was my first workout with the Xtreme Rings. They are pretty intense! I ended up finding a tree that had 2 branches that split off at just the right angles for each strap to go around. I'll have to find somewhere else I can attach it lower to work on the XRHS's. I cant quite press myself up into a HS on the XR just yet.

My routine tonight was 3 sets of:

XR SS, Negative Reverse MU to inverted hang, inverted bicep curl, hop back up to XR SS, negative MU down to hanging L-sit, Half Crank, a Reverse Crank that needs some work :)

5 x15 seconds inverted hang slow negative to hanging L sit and hold the L sit for an extra 5 seconds

5 x15 seconds floor HS negatives

5 x15 seconds German Hangs

Ended it with 2x10 Wall Extensions.

I already know my arms are gonna be sore tomorrow.

Great workout, Thanks Coach!

Are there any videos or description of a Negative Reverse MU?

Tarun Suri

Reverse negative muscle up is HS slowly controlled to a inverted hang if memory serves me right. Isn't it in the book?
