Possible 2011 London GB Seminar

There has been substantial general interest in a London based Gymnastic Bodies Seminar for this coming Fall, however at this time we are lacking a person to be the point of contact in the local area to help coordinate the necessary logistical details (facility, host hotel, local group transportation etc).

The two possible dates for the proposed GB London Seminar are either: Friday Oct 21 to Sunday Oct 23, 2011 OR Friday Nov 4 to Sunday Nov 6, 2011.

I'm a member of East London Gymnastic Club. I think there might also be a few other members lurking here, and possibly some of those at the club who haven't heard of Gymnastic Bodies would still be interested as well. The gymnasium could probably be used on the Friday by a special arrangement and then again on the Saturday and Sunday, since there looks to be only one gym session on the Saturday and none on the Sunday.

The gymnasium is easily accessible from anywhere in London on the DLR. I'm sure there's probably even a suitable hotel on the DLR, e.g:

I'm not a member, but it's possible some of the CrossFit London bunch would be interested or that they'd be willing to lend facilities; I see that they have regular gymnastics-focused sections.

Certainly add me to the interest list, and I can hopefully relay any queries you have for ELGC to them should you have any.

Also, are there any age restrictions on the seminars?

I would be interested, although not sure about my availability at these dates yet.

I'm visiting East London Club as well on the open sessions from time to time, but I'm not sure if it has facilities up enough to good standard . Other option I can think of could be Talacre in Camden. I can try to speak to managers at both sites.

I could potentially help a bit with flights as well...

I'm not so sure about that, in off season, Mallorca is very reasonable, much more so than London. Even the flight is not necessarily cheaper. We were pretty happy with the experience their all around.

Really pleased to hear you're considering a London seminar coach. I live too far out of London to do any organisational work but I'd definitely be up for coming to this one.

In Denmark there are extremely cheap flights to Londong. Around 200$ cheaper than flight destinating Mallorca. You're probably right about accomodation, though. I'd greatly appreciate an approximate budget for the last Mallorca seminar if you remember

If people are interested in a Denmark based seminar instead I'll contact my coach ASAP. However I think it's a shame to split up the Europeans in two places, after all we weren't that many last time

I'm with you there Razz, same reason i have not pursued anything here. Meeting all you great folks is half the experience.

I understand, and would really love to meet as many as possible from this great community. My first priority, however, is to learn a bunch from Coach as soon as possible and it's really up to the budget whether or not I'll be able to this year. A Denmark seminar would suddenly make this very possible so put me on the interest list :wink:

Next year, Denmark could be discussed as a possible GB Seminar location. But in terms of 2011, the calendar is now full.

I'm definitely interested.

I live on the other side of town from Milos, in South West London, not to far away from the Crystal Palace national sports centre and the Croydon school of gymnastics. I can start by making enquiries with them.

Hi guys, long time lurker here, don't know why I haven't joined before?! Been following the site for ages, and I tell everyone I can about it!

I was seriously considering the Mallorca seminar but I would be very, very interested in attending a London one. I live a couple of hours from London so I don't know what help I could be, but if there is anything that I can do then I will do what I can.
