i want to say that i do a lot of injury prevention expecially for shoulders...on the last monday (one week ago)i did the "pull to the chin" for the shoulders with large grip (i've read that can be uselful for injury prevention for the rotator cuff).

the next day (also if i have a very little little little discomfort to boths shoulders) i did a great work in handstand position where i jump from one hand to the other, in the next days until now i can't move the straigth arm more high than whoulder heigth, also if i move it forward or in the side because i feel pain in the place i selected in the photo...so i can't to any tipe of vertical pull movements or handstand training...in the opposide side i can do normal pushup, biceps work etc...max angle between arms and shoulders in push up must be of 90°...

the ain is above the shoulder were there a re the insertions of the muscles of the shoulder

i don't know if i had injuried the rotator cuff...i've tried some exercise for the rotator i don0t feel any pain!!!

i also do exercise with very ligth weight with elevate reps without problem...

what can be?

help me please...i'm just returned from car accident...i can't wait another time...

Alex you need to get that looked at.

Hopefully its nothing, but you may have damaged the connection between your collar bone and the scapula. In the worst case a partially separated shoulder.

Hopefully not, but for someone at your level, its not worth not knowing.

For now rest, limited movement, little or no load and do you what can to reduce any inflammation.

Alessandro Mainente

damn!!! can be the "pull to the chin" movements the cause of this problem? if i try it i feel pain in the secion i've selected..

Alessandro Mainente

now the pain is lower than before...now i can lift my arms above the shoulder also i feel a little discomfort!!!

now that i think...after monday i practice seriously for the first time airflare..

is possible that my shoulder are not accustomed to this type of stress?!

Cole Dano

That's good news.

Yes that's what it is, but how much damage that created? However pain is the only question here, if it hurts be careful, if you re-injure it you could be in for some serious down time.

This being the internet, its impossible to make any kind of real diagnosis, which is why the recommendation to get it looked at.

Alessandro Mainente

i hope it's nothing...maybe if i fell pain the next week i'll go to a doctor...

for me is strange get an injury...since i've started the gymnastic activity and breaking activity i did everysession a lot of injury prevention!!! and in 2 years i never get only one serious injury to my body....fo this reason i think that the not correct execution of "pull to the chin" for the shoulder + airflare practice...have did something wrong to my shoulders!

i'm very punctilious on everytinhg wich is concerned with warmup or injury prevention

Alessandro Mainente

Mr brady...in passed one week...my shoulders seem to be completely healed!!! yesterday i've tried a ligth workout with any problems if i lift my arms or do handstand...

maybe i think is better wait before return to train some skill like airflare

Cole Dano

Excellent news!

alex when do you do the jumping handstands often or was that your first time?

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause of the problem. Its doesn't mean you have to stop, once you are fully healed, but perhaps fewer reps and build slowly?

Alessandro Mainente

consider that i'm new to airflare motion and movements...BUT i'm able to perform the skill named handjumps/handhop...without any problems on both arms...maybe i think is the position of the jump wich is different or maybe body wasn't prepared for the airflare (after the warm up i usually do some skill wich can warm up my body better)...the last time time i heard pain i started with airflare after the general warm up...maybe was this thing!!

can i have suffered from something similar to what 'happens when you slam the tip of a finger on a basketball?? i don't know the english term for this injury

Cole Dano

Yes, a sprain we commonly say. I think that's it.

Alessandro Mainente

sprain.....yeah new term for me!!!!

Joshua Naterman

Probably not in the shoulder. I don't know the shoulder exercise you did, but if it was something new to you it may have irritated your shoulders and the swelling may have caused your problems with other exercises. Now that it has gone away, either don't do that exercise or make sure to start way too light and build up slowly so that you can get your body used to it and learn perfect form!

I am glad it seems to be nothing serious!!!
