Random Ring Tower in LA

A friend in Los Angeles was wandering around his new neighborhood and stumbled on this ring tower...

Might not be exciting to those of you in Europe and Eastern Europe (I'm assuming there're rings on every playground), but my friend is psyched!

These have got to be old school.

I rarely saw rings on playgrounds here in France Never a ring tower like that.

That is pretty nice, very old school looking.

Nothing like that to be seen in Helsinki, i can't even find outdoor parallel bars, and high bars are rare too.

Its just kids parks and dog parks here.

Awesome! We have nothing like that here in Denmark either, no pbars, rings or even highbars..damnit.

I was mostly kidding about rings everywhere in Europe --- it just seems to me they (and gymnastics) were a part of GPP much longer over there than here in the States.

I am very surprised that the tower is standing, given the amount of lawsuits here. I wonder if those rings were put up in the '60s and then just forgotten?

Yes my friend is very hyped. Plus, given the weather there, he'll be able to train outside on those rings like 300 days a year at least.

Jealous :twisted: :twisted: Man I really could use one of those! There is one set of metal p-bars in a playground, but being metal its pretty much worthless for anything but basic conditioning and support swings.

Super jealous, there are exactly 0 ring towers/pbars/high bar parks in Scotland, they would probably rot from all the rain.

yep in scotland you perform better throwing the tower itself and making a competition!

Lol the day after writing my comment I found out there is a playground with rings near where I live now. So much for not exploring the territory after moving.....

Now I know where I'll spend my summer reading and training

HAHAHA!!! That is so cool! I hope he wears gloves in the summer though, that metal must get HOT! I wish we had something like that here in Atlanta, but it rains so much here...

Hey theres a ring tower that looks like that in a park a short walk away from where I live!

There is also a single bar for pullups, parallettes, and parallel bars.
