Perform:

1x10 Cast Wall Walks

1x5 Pike Box Press HS

1x10 Straddle Box Press HS

12 cycles of XR Strap HS

Finish with 2x10 Wrist Pushups

notes:

1) Rest 1-2 minutes between Press HS sets.

2) If Cast Wall Walks are insufficiently challenging, you may perform PL Wall Walks instead. The key difference between these two variations is that the hands will remain behind the shoulders at all times during the descent and ascent of the PL Walks, whereas in the Cast Wall Walks the hands are directly under the shoulders.

3) Remember to adjust the height as necessary during the Box Press HS variations to ensure that the presses are sufficiently challenging.

4) If you cannot press to HS, then press to HeS.

5) If you are strong enough, replace the Box Press HS variations with Press HS from an L-sit on parallets or PBs.

6) If you exceptionally strong, perform the Press HS variations on the XR.

7) Rest 3-5 minutes after completing all of the Press HS work and then begin the XR Strap HS.

8 ) Each XR Strap HS cycle consists of 30 work followed by 45 seconds of rest. Go directly from one cycle to the next with no additional rest.

9) DO NOT come down during the 30 seconds of HS. If you do come down, that cycle does not count towards your total of 12 cycles.

10) To perform XR Strap HS drop your Xtreme Rings down to 6â€-8†from the ground. Now kick up into a handstand widely straddling your legs so that they wrap around the straps. Straighten and lock your arms as much as possible and begin timing your HS.

11) The XR Strap HS can be made much more physically demanding by placing your feet along the inside of the straps rather than wrapping your legs around the straps. The intensity can be further increased by ensuring that your elbows are completely locked and straight.

12) If XR Strap HSs are currently too demanding, perform Wall HS instead; although every effort should be made to complete the workout with XR Strap HS.

Sweet! Love Handstand wods!

Currently im still doing head press HS(RLL headstand), putting weight plates under my head as i get stronger. In the last handstand wod i was only 1 or 2 plates away from having my arms fully straight. If i achieve doing it with straight arms, where to from here? To a wall from the ground? Or to Box press HS?

12) If XR Strap HSs are currently too demanding, perform Wall HS instead; although every effort should be made to complete the workout with XR Strap HS.

What about Box XR HS holds? like Box HSPU's with your feet on a box and the rings near the ground.

Thanks :)

Edit: Checked the Handstand forum, I know exactly what to do now in regards to HS Press work :)

me too... my favourite mainly because I'm stronger in the HS than with anything else.

can't speak for coach but I reckon that's a great idea! much the same idea as building up strength in a wall HS, you can increase the height until you're on the straps; and it will introduce you to the instability of vertically straight arms on the rings.

Today's WOD:

Cast wall walks x 10 + 5 (first time getting 10 full reps, felt great. And exhausting :D )

pike press HeS (head on cinderblock + yoga mat) x 5,5,5,5,5

straddle press HeS (floor) x 10 (flexibility limiting factor here)

12 cycles wall HS (still not comfortable jumping up to ring HS, going to take the recommendation of using a box to continually elevate my feet doing box ring HS's until I get a better feel of being vertical holding onto the rings in a HS position)

2x10 wrist pushups

-continuing to improve in these HS workouts, feels great.

Patrick Angelo Sardilli

Bench Press: 75#(5) - 95#(5) - 110#(3) - 140#(5) - 160#(3) - 180#(1+)

1 x 10 Cast Wall Walks

Rest 2 mins

1 x 5 Pike Box Press HS (46")

Rest 2 mins

1 x 10 Straddle Box Press HS (30")

Rest 5 mins

12 Cycles of XR Strap HS (30s on, 45s off) Broke first one; minor strap adjustment.

Finish with 2 x 10 Wrist Pushups

warmup/fsp

Cast wall walks x 5-3-2

pike press HeS x5 (head on an old computer subwoofer with yoga mat on top for cushion)

straddle press HeS x 10 (same setup as pike)

12 rounds of XR HS (I have my rings hanging from a doorway pullup bar. I'm not comfortable kicking into HS on the rings quite yet, especially with the lack of space, height, and padding. So I place a chair to put my feet on while holding the rings, then lift one leg at a time and stick my feet/legs through the pullup bar. Having my legs in the pullup bar helps balance me, and if my strength wanes I can assist by pulling with my feet. Here's a pic of the bar im talking aboutpost-37874-13531537144264_thumb.jpg

finished with 2x10 wrist pushups, then two sets of pushups on closed fists.

Mark Wyly

Cast wall walks 1 x 10. Unintentionally added difficulty by wearing very slippery socks on a slippery surface but was a good surprise.

1x5 pike press hs from floor. 5 sec rest between

1x10 straddle press from floor

12 cycled xr hs with 30sec rest between.

2x10 wrist push ups.

Warmup: Ido's Shoulder Routine

FSPs

WOD:

1x10 Cast Wall Walks (finally got all 10 in a row!)

1x5 Box Pike Press HS (2, 2, 1 @ 43" box height)

1x10 Box Straddle Press HS (2, 3, 3, 2 @ 24" box height)

12 cycles of XR strap HS (30s on 45s off)

*Two weeks ago I achieved my first ever straddle press to HS!! I have been trying to improve my form and continue to strengthen my press before videoing it. But since then, all my box heights have decreased and on Monday I did 3 very nice straddle presses (broken up with rest), I am progressing very nicely. Thanks for the workouts Coach, I never thought I would be able to do one!
