Hard to breathe during L Sit?

I've found it hard to breathe about 10 seconds into my L sit hold. I've read to try short and shallow breaths, but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else had this issue, and have you gotten past it? How?

A common occurence for EVERY static hold when they are INTENSE per the individual.

For me, an L-sit of 10s is a cakewalk. For Gregor, a cross of 10 could be a cakewalk. The latter might not be true (or might be) but I think you get the idea.
