Nervetrouble?

ive been doing two 6 week cycles, approx 3 workouts/week with the following static excercises: planche, backlever, front lever and handstand. i started with the easiest variation and now im able to do:

planche: 7sets of 9sec flatback planche,

6 sets of 10sec flatback frontlever,

6 sets of 10 sec half backlever.

some weeks before the xmasbreak my workoutfriend bought rings, and we immediately started doing the levers in them. but after maybe a week of using them i started to feel numb in my right arm, in the nerve that goes from the shoulder through the elbow down to to the ringfinger and (or) the pinky. its not hurting, but feels "bad". a friend of mine is studying to be a doctor and he says i really should take it easy with this, or the nerve might get chronic issues.

has anybody here experienced the same issues with this numbness and unpleasant sensation? any tips on what i should do?

Your friend is right, don't work through pain, even more so numbness.

I just posted an interesting article on pain as well, if you need some reading to do while you are down.

thank you!

i stopped working on the exercise for a while, and then transitioned into having the bicceps "outward", but with the tuckback, and i havent had any problems. feels great!

buuut, ive been doing approx 3 workouts per week, and my forearms and wrists (the bone and tendons, not the muscles) have been starting to get tired. its not that it hurts, but even the days when im resting i sometimes feel a subtle sensation in them.

do you think i should slow down my workoutpace, or just override it?

its not feeling really uncomfortable, but it maybe it will if i push it.

i get the advice to listen to my body, but where do you draw the line?

That's a good question and one you will have to learn the answer to with time. There certainly is a difference between DOMS, fatigue, and injury. I could add any of the other possible causes of physical sensation.

If in doubt at first, rest or slow down, but you are right there's no need to cry wolf with every little sensation either. If i did that i'd never get out of bed.
