Rope Climb Safety

Hello everyone,

note: I don't have access to a gym with landing mats or other safety equipment.

given that the possibility of falling during a climb can not be totally excluded, i was wondering if there are any recommendations on how to practice rope climb safely outside of a gym.

The only place where i could practice rope climb (final progression) is at a Sports field where there are several gymnastics apparatus available. I see 2 options:

  1. hang a rope from a high bar or another high structure
  2. climb a pole (metal, this is a tall pole, i estimate at least 6 meters tall)

Even if the area is covered with a shock absorbing material i don't think that type of flooring would provide enough protection in case of a fall from a height of several meters.

So my thoughts at the moment are:

  • abstain from practicing rope climb (i'm referring to the final progression, where you actually climb up)
  • climb only small heights to mitigate the risk of a fall

What you would recommend to do in my situation?

I used a trird option, instead of doing 6 meters is did 2 times 2 meters...

Tes, that was one of the options. I wasn't sure if it's a good option because of the shortened distance
