1.Can you check the form, please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j57HKrjLiU

2. What is the correct position of the scapulae while doing pushups? I always thought that it is supposed to be fully protracted at the top and fully retracted at the bottom, but it seems from your videos that the protraction is maintained almost throughout the whole move? Can you please clarify in detail?

Hey Rokas, generally speaking, is always important the depression.

for the protraction, you should always try to not sag in between the arms and still try to push off from the floor, during the descent part you can let the scapulae move a bit one closer to the other but it is not voluntary retraction because we do not need chest isolation like the bench press. as you reverse the movement the protraction should be recovered as soon as possible.

IN your execution there is an immediate loos of depression, in fact, the shoulder run closer to the ears in the point of the pic below both in the negative and in the positive, the only way you have to avoid that is to slow down the speed and think about depression.

The visual is too low, shoulder height is necessary.

Hi, Alessandro, here's an update. Hope this time everything is visibile. Is the form good enough to move on to PE2?

Do you feel the lats engaged for holding the shoulder depressed during all the movement, during all the reps?

Rokas Grigaitis

I feel the lats engaged quite a lot :)

Is strong lat engagement a good cue for shoulder depression?

Is this good enough to move on to pushups?  I have still some reps to spare after doing 5x15 with iM in between.
