Daniel Conacher
Hello GF, I seem to have an issue with twisting movements. For example, the Brettzel stretch from the quad restore video or the supine stretch in most yoga routines. In these cases, my lower back seizes right up with back spasms. The first time I had to see a Dr. as the pain was really bad. It was diagnosed as muscle spasms and I went to the physio for the next couple of weeks to get fixed. I am now feeling great as I have dialed back all intensity for the last 3 months and just have been doing the Restore series, band series, and fundamental series. I figured I would take this approach until I can move properly again. Really practicing patience here. However, despite having improved in many ways, I still get spasms, though not as bad as the first time, when I do these twisting movements. Therefore, my questions are 1. What are some precursor movements/exercises that can be done to slowly be able to do those twisting movements again? 2. Based on these twisting movements, do you know the anatomy/muscles that might be spasming? Thank you in advance for your help. D

D HI Daniel, in these cases the best solution is approaching the exercise gradually. i mean that if full-twisting was the cause of the problem you can reduce the amount of twist.
