Coming Back from MS Flare

Any advice for my husband who is coming back from an MS flare up? He had been doing stretch series and foundations for about three years until mid June of this year when he had to stop. Bouts of dizziness and slow nerve feedback on his left side are his symptoms. Symptoms are not constant but come in waves 40+ times/day. Symptoms still persist but are not getting worse.

Thank you...

Hi Jennie,

So sorry to hear that you and your husband are dealing with MS.  May I ask what his serum Vit D levels are?  Robb Wolf once mentioned to me in passing a study he had come across regarding higher levels being helpful with MS symptoms.

Thank you for responding, coach. His Vit D level is on the low end of normal (31ng/mL). He is consistent with supplementing daily with Vit D drops (4,000 IU, 1,000% RDA), but this summer being in the sun made things worse so he was unable to soak it up. He is fair skinned with northern European heritage. Maybe some regular fall sunshine will help or two drops/day of the Vit D.

Thank you,

Jennie

31 is definitely on the low side; 50 is the preferred average.  Although if increased immune function is sought 70-80 is the target number.

Hello again,

The heat has come with summer and my husband is starting to experience similar symptoms as last year. He almost made it back to where he was in Foundations, but not quite. Should he back off on workouts by only doing the stretch series in hopes that this flare will pass faster without added workout stress?

Thank you,

Jennie

Coach Sommer

Yes, I would recommend backing off.  Keep the workouts calming and refreshing.  His body is already under stress, at this time additional stress would probably do more harm than good.

Thanks for getting back to me!
