Started to do SL/PE11 (1/2 Windshield Wiper) and MN/PE6 (Negative Hanging Leg Lift) at the same time and quickly developed shoulder pain in the front of my shoulder. Took a break until the pain was gone, and tried to work in those exercises again. I still feel pain in the front of my shoulder. Any advice on how to get past this?

Thanks,

Eddie

Hi Eddie, a suffering shoulders in the front of the shoulder is usually related to rotator cuff problem (probably related to your posture) . my personal suggestion is that nobody here can evaluate correctly your situation. if the problem occurs, then you rest, then you step back to training and the problem occurs again...means that the problem is not solved. now you have FIRST to understand the cause with a PT, solve it and then step back to training.

Searching for the solution on the web can have 2 possible endings: solving the solution or make it much worse than before.

Hello Alessandro, thank you for the advice. I know it's impossible to diagnose my specific issues online haha. But a couple of questions if you have time:

1) When you say posture may be the cause of my shoulder problems, does the following article outline why?

 http://buffalorehab.com/blog/3-ways-bad-posture-hurting-shoulder/

2) If my issue is related to a rotor cuff problem, is its unlikely my form is the cause of the pain? I think I'm going to post a video to check my form to make sure. I'm thinking maybe a lack of flexibility in my shoulder is causing me to move with bad form.

3) Do you know what PTs generally do to diagnose rotor cuff problems and how they normally recommend fixing it? I would presume them move your arm around and ask if it hurts while measuring mobility in various planes. Then based on that, recommend stretches/exercises to put the shoulder into a better position.

Many Thanks,

Eddie

A good physiotherapist should be able to understand the problem and give you exercises for correcting it, if not, change the PT.

Bad shoulder like rounded shoulder and anterior scapulae tilt can lead to pain because of the shoulders and not because of the exercise. on the healthy shoulder, there are a very few numbers of exercise that create a problem.

Makes sense, thanks for the info!
