Hinge row bar instead of rings?

Hi,

Is it okay to use the smith machine bar for hinge rows instead of the rings? I feel that I'm better able to perform the movement and am better able to feel the back muscle contract as apposed to doing the movement on the rings.

Also, during the hollow body hold when my legs are straight I struggle to tuck the pelvis without externally rotating my legs. Any advice on what the issue is and how to fix it?

Daniel.

Hi Daniel, no, is not possible because there is no work in the grip that must change during the movement and also the smith machine is not unstable.

Hi Alessandro. What are the benefits of changing the grip?

Changing the grip changes the biomechanical advantages of different muscles that work on the same range of motion, so basically, the work is more complete compared to a fixed grip.
