Form check videos below. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Four videos below:

Thanks in advance for pointers.

Questions:

1. How do I know when it makes sense to graduate off the block on pancake work?

2. I am clueless on vertical frog. The follow along video mentions using blocks if needed. At the moment, I can't get anywhere near the demonstration video, even with blocks.

Best,

Hey Christopher, my suggestions follow:

-side squat: notice how you tilt the upper body to the side, try to stay neutral, the upper body should be centered in the center of the hips.

-the same problem as the point above, try to hold the upper body centered, the extended leg should be moved a bit more away from the other;

-pancake: you need to lower at the point where the range of motion gained with the ass elevated leads to the possibility to sit on the floor with APT. you to check this as you improve the elevated pancake.

-for the piriformis variation, bent the front leg up to 90° and move the corresponding heel a bit out to the side.

@Christopher Ha allow me to offer a few tips to help you as you navigate this beautiful journey.

Vertical frog: I did this movement incorrectly for almost 3 years until I saw a correction that coach @Mikey Cunanan had made on this forum. Here are a few observations.

a) You want to ensure that the tibia of the bent leg is perpendicular to the ground. Hence the name "vertical."

b) You want to ensure that the knee of the straight leg is pointing to the ceiling. (In other words, that's how you want to align that leg.)

c) Try to remove the angle between the bent leg and straight leg as much as you can; perhaps not 180° but try to imagine a straight line from the bent leg to the straight leg and execute it that way.

d) You might need to elevate your body a lot more than where you are in the video (i.e, at least one foot higher) in order to be able to perform this exercise correctly.

Hope this helps.
