Slow Progress making strength gains?

What’s up guys. I’ve been following Coach Sommers recommended schedule for a while now.

My question is I might go weeks or months at a time while only making improvement by maybe a couple of reps with certain movements.

Some other movements I do progress much faster though.

Just wondering if this slow progress is normal?

Thanks

Hi Phillip,

It depends basically of your level of mobility and strength. But, usually, the progress is slow due to work capacity adaptation.

What you could do however, if your recovery is good enough, is to raise your trainings to 2 times a week to help pass through plateaus.

Keep your stretch series at once a week tough!

Strength gains depend on too many factors:

-work capacity;

-age;

-schedule (volume, tempo, intensity, rest, frequency, deload and so on)

-nutrition;

-recovery strategies like sleep etc;

-work capacity of your body;

-physical characteristics like height, bodyweight and weight distribution.

Hey Alessandro, what do you mean exactly by "work capacity" and "work capacity of your body"?

It is a writing mistake. the work capacity is the ability to handle a specific demand of effort in terms of intensity and volume in a training session so that you can optimize gain and recovery before the following session.
