Shoulder girdle position in Incline Pushup

Hello,

I got that in this exercise the shoulders should be depressed during both phases of the movement.

What about protraction and retraction?

Do the shoulder blades need to stay protracted both in the negative and positive phases of the movement, and ONLY the arms move, while the shoulder girdle stays tight

OR

The shoulder blades should protract at the top of the push phase, and physiologically retract during the lowering phase, so that in the following pushing phase, the shoulder girdle moves along the arm to achieve a full protraction?

Thanks

Hi Riccardo,

Thank you for reaching out, great question.

The position of the shoulder blades for incline pushups should be protracted the whole way through the movement.

Definitely send us a video for a form check.

That's precisely what I needed to know.

Thank you Tanya
