has anyone else suffered lumbar/lower back pain during the inverted pike movements?  if i go for my max compression, my lower back hurts after the exercise but, if i don't go for max compression, i don't really feel a hamstring stretch.  maybe i just need to take a couple of weeks off this exercise but are there other good alternative exercises instead?

Hi Scott,

In order to help you completely avoid the lumbar pain, try performing this stretch with a flat back. You may need to adjust the space between your hands and feet a bit to find the stretch with this new back position. Please give that a try and let us know how it goes! It is, of course, also a good idea to visit a sports physio to discuss your lower back pain.

You can also try bending your knees to don t stress your  low back until your flexibility improves.

very helpful, thanks Everett and Antonio.
