How careful with elbows?

Hi everyone.

After listening to podcasts with mr.Sommer I now respect and and pay big attention on my elbows. For once I Will listen to them BEFORE getting My first injury in that area.

So this being Said, i have some very light but strange sensation in both My inner elbows. I dont feel any of it during workouts or stretching because im always paying Attention to them. However, from time to time, Esp when waking up in the night/mornings after sleeping with straight arms, they say "Hi Jonas im your inner elbow", pain scale like 3-4/10.. it dissapears quickly.

Is this just the elbows adapting to improved ROM? Or should I flat out stop Training for this?

My schedule is very beginner light, F1 once per week and all the stretch courses *1. Carying around on My 8month Old son a couple hours a day is not optimal, maybe i should counter stretch this daily? If so, any suggestions on stretches are very welcome.

want to take the oppertunity to say Thank you GB for being the best programming and community out there!

Hi @Jonas Berglund,

Having discomfort in your elbow is normal as long as its not pain. From your story, it looks like a discomfort. Eventually it'll be stronger as you progress along Foundation One. Yes you may do a counter stretch after carrying your baby couple of hours a day. :) Please update us in the future on how you feel with your elbows. Glad that you are liking the GB program like the rest of us. :D

Highly appreciate you took time to answer Leo.

Glad to hear this isnt to serious.

To counter stretch baby-carrying, id guess shoulder extention is a pretty important one since im holding infront of the body with Bent arms, true?

Any recommendations would be very helpful.

@Jonas Berglund, I am not a coach, but it seems like the Elevated Cat is "the secret" to solving almost all problems :P:P

Jonas Berglund

@Suzanna McGee,, haha Yeah im also starting to see some patterns.

Appreciate your reminder, always remember the elevated cat stretch :)

The Cat-Cow mobility does wonders for me too. Really helps a lot with warmups, cooldowns, prehab and rehab. :)

From my experience, and as someone who has gone through the trenches with elbow pain (not from GB, but from me being a stupid stupid person trying to train rings with literally zero preparation) when training extension there is going to be some discomfort almost dull like but should be manageable. If and when that dull transitions to sharp this is when you hit the breaks and terminate set (it should never get to this, but is something to look out for).

Slight discomfort, dull like (4/10 on the discomfort scale) is okay. Bump into that range where their is some discomfort but would be cautious to really try to push through and past it.

- dont know if I worded this the best way but hopefully it makes sense.

Also coaches to correct me if this is false advise, but based on my experiences slight discomfort is okay and eventually goes away as your elbows strengthen

Jonas Berglund

THanks for your time to answer guys.

Ryan, It does make sense, that 4/10 pain is Easy to manage, but its a (good+Little frusterating) reminder to go slow.

As stated a couple Times before, slow progress is better than no progress.. We are hanging in there mate!

Leo, Agreed about cat-cow, wonderful, probably I need to do it even more!
