Hello!

i want to ask this fine community about my muscleup-form. My aim is to move to wider variations but I want my narrow grip-mu to be as good as possible first; least amount of lean and piking.

What do you have to say about these ones?

I assume that you can perform at least 7-8 repetition in a row.

Johan Hägg

Yes I'm able to do 8 reps a set as for now. Recorded only two reps due to the timelimit on instagramclips.

Hi Johan,

I just checked out your Instagram page. It would be great to see you straighten your arms both at the top and bottom of your muscle up as I don't ever see you go into full hang and your arms are bent in your support position at the top.

Johan Hägg

Thank you for your feedback! Great of you! sloppy of me, i will correct that!

Winter Phoenix

Hi Johan,

No problem and please send through some updated videos of your muscle up when you are ready!

Johan Hägg

sure will! Im going to record next bent-armsession next week with corrected sloppyness of my muscleups. Thanks again!

Hello again! here are some reps with as strict form as I currently can do. Rings should have been a little higher, not optimal. Actually remembered to film it set 2. Any feedback much appreciated.

Hey Johan not too much to say, relax more on the hanging position.

Hi Johan,

Love seeing the corrections that you have made you have done a nice job with straightening those arms out.

Keep up the good work.

Johan Hägg

Thank you both for feedback! Should I refine it even more or am I ready to go wider you think?

Hi Johan,

You are okay to go a bit wider. The hands should still be close enough that you do not need to pause after the transition before beginning your dip.

Johan Hägg

Thanks for the reply! Ok i got it. Just out of curiosity; why avoid a pause during transition? Does a pause reveal weakness in that particular position and risk of injury arises?

Jeffrey Bittner

Hi Johan,

Good question. It has to do with both strength and refinement. Your goal should be to make your muscle up look like one fluid movement. You will find that taking out that small pause requires a greater amount of strength. When you are able to transition smoothly without any pauses, you will have truly mastered the skill. Not only will it better prepare you for more advanced ring work in the future, but it will also be a better reflection of the preparatory work that you have already done.

Thank you for your explanation!
