Handstand/elevated bridge

Just started a few weeks ago and have with foundations, handstand and the stretch series. When trying to do any type of support element like tripod, handstand (even L-handstand), and any type of bridge, my shoulders just can't take it. Painful and a little week, let alone my flexibility issues with trying a bridge. Should I just skip those elements in the routines for now or is there some other options for improving those areas?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the GymnasticBodies community!

This is completely normal when beginning the TB Stretch Series. The earlier progressions in the series will eventually prepare you for the more advanced stretches. Don't feel like you need to go all the way through the series at this time.

When you get the chance, take a look at the technique tip videos for some execution tips. You can also submit form checks for the exercises you are able to perform. Proper execution of those is going to help speed up your progress and shorten the time it takes to begin working on the bridge progressions.

Looking forward to follow your GST journey, please keep us posted on your progress :)
