Why is front support so rounded?

As opposed to having a more neutral spine, what is the intention in over arching the thoracic spine? TIA

Hi Robert,

Great question. What you are seeing as a rounded back is actually scapular protraction. Scapular protraction is one of the most important movements to master early on in your Gymnastic Strength Training as several elements require protraction to be performed correctly. You will be introduced more to scapular protraction and retraction later on in the Fundamentals course.

nice point here, protraction it the lateral movement of the scapulae, the fact that it promotes the 8-9°of spine flexion means that hyperflexion has nothing to do with protraction.
