Habits to maximize progression

I have since hearing about Leo's approach used the hard reset twice now; each time I've found a little more movement in my scaps, better activation, or a slightly cleaner hollow body position.

I don't usually find strength gaps at these levels, more slightly off positions that are compensated for at later elements and slow down development :)

1. Have one day a week with easier exececises and high volume.

2. Weighted mobility

The above has helped me to progress.

Coach has emphasised a number of times that the stronger you are, the more important it is to have AT LEAST one day high volume/lower intensity for joint health purposes.

Something that tends to get overlooked, that I picked up from way back here, is the amount of lower-intensity volume Coach's most successful boys did in their skill training, outside of conditioning. For the most part this is accounted for between Foundation and Movement; however note that the strongest guys and girls here are pursuing a sport using GST as their physical foundation for skill training. Elite sports athletes use it to support, not replace, their skill training. Back in the day, this is why the WoDs worked for some, not others; the missing factor was the large amount of lower-intensity work.

Obviously that is relative to physical prep; even if we could attempt the technical workouts of Coach's boys the intensity of them would crush 95+% of us.

Find what you love to do, use GST to make you better at it :) the volume/light skill training works in synergy with the strength and body mechanics training to improve each other.

I have experienced significant loss in overall performance when the volume of my training dialed down because of facing "life". :(

Interesting. Gotta figure out how to program that. I just started a Foundation/Handstand reset, a high-volume day would be really good to build in once I've advanced through several progressions. Maybe on weekends.

Good idea as it is @Benjamin Nutt but you still have to strive for quality before quantity. :)

That's exactly why I reset! It's a practice of being honest about my level :)

To those who are already following Coach's advice:
Would the "low intensity" work you'd do, always be from a particular set of exercises, like shoulder dislocates, pancakes, Jefferson curls, etc?

Though I guess "low intensity" is subjective. Some PE at the beginning might be high intensity but become low with mastery. And the whole GB system, going up to very high volume, is based on this.

low intensity and high intensity will surely vary from person to person but Foundation One is definitely not high intensity. :)
