What size blocks are recommended for the front split series and where might they be acquired?

Any yoga block is probably fine. I get all my stuff on Amazon 
I have these and they seem fine and are inexpensive.

Like Suzanna said, any standard yoga block will work fine. They are pretty standard and come up with a Google/Amazon search.
Sometimes when I don't have access to yogablocks I use a foamroller. Work fine to sit on it or to elevate the feet
